DEPARTMENTAL GOALS AND STRATEGIES
One of the most important duties of the Sheriff is to clearly communicate transparent goals to the community. When it comes to departmental goals, mine are relatively simple. I have no desire to radically alter the Sheriff's Office and turn it into something it's not
EMERGENCY RESPONSE
With one city, nine towns, two census designated areas, seven unincorporated communities, and almost 8,000 square miles of county, Carbon County is a vast area. We are the third largest county in the state of Wyoming by landmass but remain small by population standards. This dichotomy poses numerous challenges in regard to area coverage, as our tax base is not commensurate with our size. To mitigate these challenges, we have changed our patrol schedules to provide more coverage, entered into Law Enforcement Service Memorandum's of Understanding with several of our smaller communities, and established two School Resource Officer programs with both of our Carbon County School Districts.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Not only are members of the Sheriff's Office assigned to serve the community, we are members of the community ourselves. Instead of simply "catching bad guys" or "fighting crimes," meaningful community engagement should be a top priority for the Carbon County Sheriff's Office . Whether that means doing a school walk-through or showing up at a rodeo, meaningful community interaction is integral to establishing trust and transparency within the community we serve. During our first term, we have implemented two School Resource Officers for our area school districts, which has greatly impacted our community interaction in a positive manner.

PROFFESIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
With a county as large as ours, our Sheriff's Office works with a variety of entities in the name of Public Safety. Fire departments, ambulance services, search and rescue, and other law enforcement agencies are just a few examples. Increased training and collaboration will help us work more efficiently together to deliver better services to the members of Carbon County.
